About me
Psychology career and specialist interests
My career in psychology started around twenty years ago when I began my MA Hons degree in Psychology at the University of Glasgow. My interest in psychology stemmed from a desire to promote equality and an awareness that some experiences in life, often outside of our control, influence our mental health and happiness. I worked across a number of different roles in mental health settings before completing my Clinical Psychology Doctorate at Newcastle University in 2016. The majority of my career has been working in complex care settings-specialising in areas such as early intervention psychosis, developmental and complex trauma, personality disorder services and services for military veterans. I have a specialist interest and expertise in working with and understanding trauma (including complex trauma and PTSD) across the lifespan. I am passionate about service development, leadership, and research. My publications can be found here.
I am currently employed in the NHS as Principal Clinical Psychologist in OpCourage North working with military veterans across the North of England.
I recently co-founded OpSisterhood with my wonderful colleague Victoria Wales, and Walking with the Wounded with the aim of improving services for female military veterans in the North East of England.

Personal journey
Born and bred in Edinburgh, with my family spread between the central belt in Scotland and the Isle of Skye- I relocated to the North East of England 12 years ago. After a period of travelling the world, I fell in love with North East coast and have continued to do so over the last decade.
I have two little boys and have my own experiences of challenges in managing the post-natal period. This led me to volunteer as a Patient Public Voice representative in Intrapartum Care services between 2022-2025 to work to improve experiences for women and their families during these times of adjustment.
More recently, earlier in 2025, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. This came out of the blue to me. I have had, and continue to have, my own journey navigating this diagnosis. I continue to be in treatment and feel fortunate to be able to remain present for my boys and my family, to be able to continue my work which I love, and to be able to continue with my hobbies-such as strongwoman strength training, hillwalking, and socialising with friends. During my experiences I have found my understanding of psychology has helped me hugely with mindset. I have been surprised at the limited information around this which is widely available. This has led me to start developing some resources which I hope will be valuable to others’ on this journey too. Take a look at these here and please do reach out for a conversation.
Experience and qualifications in clinical supervision
I have significant experience as a Clinical and Professional Supervisor. Within my NHS role, I currently supervise a large team of Senior Clinical Psychologists and Senior CBT therapists across the North of England. I have experience of supervising Trainee Clinical Psychologists from both Newcastle and Teesside Universities, as well as extensive experience in supervising those from Mental Health Nursing and Social Work backgrounds. In 2020 I was Trustwide Clinical Supervisor on the MUSE FEP Research trial collaboration with CNTW NHS Foundation Trust and Durham University.
I have completed additional training in Clinical Supervision, and keep up to date with renewing this on a regular basis, as well as completing additional CPD in this area. I am BABCP accredited and supervise those who require to maintain their own accreditations in this area.
I am a passionate and enthusiastic supervisor, who truly believes in supporting others’ to grow and develop in their own professional goals. My style is a flexible and collaborative one. Please do approach me for conversations around your own individual needs and how we might work together.
Fees starting from £110 per hour for 1:1 supervision. Please reach out to discuss any Group Supervision needs and pricing.
